Photographer Mert Çakır tells the story of 'OR YEHUDA'NIN HAYALETLERİ'

About the project

The road stretchers before us. Tobacco fields and olive trees at the edge of the road… A very familiar image of the Aegean… We are going to see an old school. The only thing we know the name : ‘Kayalıoğlu Tarihi Ziraat Okulu' when we arrived we did not expect to meet such a great history in Akhisar’s little town Kayalıoğlu. The reason we call it big, not the size of a large buildings, because we learned that its history based on 1900s and why Jews care a lot about agriculture today who are highly developed in agriculture. The schools Kayalıoğlu Ziraat Okulu and Or Yahuda which are builded in order to teach agriculture to Jews who fall behind in agriculture. While these schools were 28 thousands acres career centers how they turned into an abandoned building today, we will find out the anwer from its ghosts.
